the view of Suwon city frm West Watch Tower of Hwaseong Fortress
Heyo...... sorry havent been updating the blog for sometime... hehehe!! went out playing for the whole wk... cos ITS SCHOOL HOLIDAY! but... sad its over already now is back to study n in LEVEL 2!!!! Must STUDY HARD HARD loh............ >_<
Back to the visit in Kr..... So nw is the 4th day... PLanned to bring my parents to Suwon city, a city just alittle outskirt of Seoul city.... a city wif lots of historical buildings etc... I have been to Suwon during my last visit and had really enjoyed myself hence I would want to bring my parents there too...
So early in the morning, we took the subway to Suwon city.... Took about 1 and a half hrs to reach there....... So we went on a tour.... sad that the tour tat i had been to is no longer in operation liao... bt anyway, we took another similar tour... main focus is to view the Hwaseong Fortress, let my dad experienced the krn archery, my mum to try on the Hanbok (krn traditional costumes), bring them to see things tat they can relate frm the krn dramas they watched hahaha etc
So we bought the Tour package which took abt 2 1/2 hrs ard the fortress and we moved on to the Korean Folk Village on our own.
Even though, its my 2nd time visitin Suwon, I had different experiences and also visited the different parts of the Hwaseong fortress.... This is really GREAT, i felt that their tourism is really great cos they had made it so that even if you visited it before there is bound to have different tings... So i tink i didnt waste my $$ to pay for the tour once again...
the different things i had experienced throughout this visit to Suwon:
-the west watching tower of Hwaseong Fortress (only opened to public jus one month ago): frm here you can see almost the whole Suwon city
-Saw the Fillal Bell (finally!!! i saw it!, i didnt get to visit it the other time i came)
-the KBS Center (a new attraction added into the itinerary, Suwon mayor is trying to add in the media influences to make Suwon city a more vibrant place instead of the old tinking tat its a HISTORICAL site...): everything minature in it... so cute... its so RETRO i bet Jo will like it here....
-Martial Arts trial performance at Hwaseong Haenggung: the demostration of the 24 martial arts from [Muye Dobo Tongji] which contains excellent martial arts of Korea or adopted from China and Japan.... (sm events to make the historical site a more happening place)
-the influence of korean DRAMA "大长今" and kr movie "왕의 남자" can be STRONGLY sensed in Hwaseong Haenggung!!! They have added in lots n lots of info. related to 大长今 on displays... Nw i can really sense how GREAT the influence of MEDIA is to tourism!! Ranges frm the costumes 大长今 wore to the exact location that the drama was flimed in the palace were all highlighted.... of cos 왕의 남자 were also highlighted here... (it was nt so prominent the last time i came)
-of cos the different in seasons played a part too.... the scenery, the trees, flowers etc were all different
-at the Krn Folk Village, the see-saw stunts had been improved wif more difficult stunts.... (i can see their efforts!!) and of cos the MUST SEE horse stunts (sorry ah there is a proper name for it bt i forgotten wat is it liao... :P) I had missed it the other time as we were rushin off to watch sm other ting... (that's the bad ting about following a tour rush here n there like beesss)
Hui if you are reading tis, MAKE SURE u go back to KFV to watch tat horse stunts DAMN STYLO!!!!!!
-i didnt realise or its jus opened!? there is an amusement park in the Korean Folk Village?! n knw wat?! there is a haunted hse too... bt i didnt go in ah... cos i still dunno hw does a kr ghost looked like so beta dun scare myself out man.... hahah
its kind of pity, cos this new tour had removed the visitin of Prince Sado's tomb and the temple.... which i tink were equally interesting too...
And last bt not least, I like this city so much becos of the story behind it.... a nice story about King Jeongjo's fillal towards his late father (Prince Sado). According to the history bks, when King Jeongjo was young he had seen hw his father suffered before he passed away even before he was crowned the King. Therefore King Jeongjo wanted his late father to rest in peace, he ordered to move the tomb of his late father to Suwon and even built a temporary palace in Suwon so he can visit his late father. King Jeongjo will visit his father's tomb in Suwon once a year bringin with him a large troops of army etc.... BEcos of his fillal towards his late father, ppl were touched and hence ppl helped to take care of the tomb of the late Prince Sado.
These r jus bits n pieces of the story I picked up frm the tour guide.... Just hope tat i can get my hands on the history bks to fully understand wat is the story behind hw Prince Sado's sufferings etc. I was told that the history bks r all in krn hence i have to brush up on my krn first :P
FOR ppl who love HISTORY, u have got to visit SUwon if you are visitin Kr!
