A trip on the Singapore Flyer on 15 Mar (Nic's bday)

YOYOYOYo!! went on a ride on the Singapore Flyer!!!

oh wellz if you still dunno what is the SINGAPORE FLYER than let me introduce to u...it is Singapore latest added attraction... Singapore biggEST FERRIS Wheel.... (for more information pls log on to http://www.singaporeflyer.com.sg/)

it's nic's 18th bday... yah the age to legally enter ZOUK (a paradize for him, his latest addiction).... so we went to celebrate at his aunt's restaurant located at the Singapore flyer... on top of that, we get to have a chance to ride on the Singapore Flyer... IN A PRIVATE capSULE!!

ok at 1st i thought, its nothing much as I had read lots of negative feedbacks frm the media abt it... so didnt have much of an expectation for it too... just hop along as its FREE... hehe...

so off we went, gotten our tickets and joined in the queue.... 1st, we were greeted by a long queue of visitors who are q-ing for the ride as well..... Got a shock seeing such a crowd.... The admission is a barcode scanning system whereby the barcode is on our printed ticket... so wat u do is just scan it and u can enter... This reminds me of borrowing a bk frm the library... It was slightly abit chaoz as ppl r unfamilar with the system but was carefully guided with the staff on duty.... On top of that, Nic had to put the wine his dad brought at the counter (a make shift table, seems like they were not well prepared) as we were not allowed to bring food and drinks onboard the Singapore flyer... BAD.... No signages or they are not prominent enough to inform guests of this.... (shake head)

After which, we were ushered up the escalator to join another queue... this time to queue for a photo-taking session on the capsule itself virtually....I felt that they shld put up more information abt this photo-taking session within the q-ing area so ppl can knw wat is expected of them.... Sadly, nothin is put up... so i didnt even knw i was abt to take some photo until i reach the inside... oh yah not to forget the chaoz, everyone didnt knw where to see and stand... so in the end jus took a photo looking totally shocked/not well prepared... (nevermind abt tat cos i wont buy the photo anyway... hahaha)

Next, we joined the queue... and was then ushered to another separate queue by the staff as we have a private capsule... once again, no signages were put up to usher ppl to the correct queue...

Move on to the tunnel (seems like we are boarding the plane.. haha), excited.... So off we went, the capsule came down and the staff opened the door..... we were then told to hop on..... I really gt a shocked of my life when I tried to hop onto the capsule.... ITs moving while all 20 plus of us went rushing into the capsule... Furthermore there's a gap in between the capsule and the boarding area.... kind of scary... can you imagine rushing in, accidentally slip and fall right through?? haha... (thinkin too much) Not to worry there's a safety net below to carry you incase that really happens....... But the scene of ppl rushing in is really very amusing....

So up we went....... I should praise the engineers... its a very smooth trip..... For those who are fear of heights... dun worry just look far at the beautiful Singapore scenery.... overlookin the CBD area....... Jus like any other tourists, our cameras were clicking like mad onboard..... At 1st its quite clear until when the sunsets...... the flashlights from our cameras make it difficult to capture the beautiful skyline of Singapore... so the best option is to prepare urself wif a tripod before going onboard the Singapore flyer at nite.....

Going up was really beautiful as we have the CBD area as background bt coming down was really disappointin as we were greeted by construction site and a pitch of dark...... Hopefully in future we have more other beautiful landscape or buildings in place to show.......

The ride was okay... not really fast nor is it very slow...... The ride itself was really beyond my expectations....... Bt as a typical Singaporean, I guess this would be my 1st and last trip onboard unless someone pays/for my work purpose.... haha...

After exiting the capsule, haha another thrilling action flim of jumping out of the capsule..... we went back the tunnel and was then greeted by a souvenir shop (hahah very typical tourist attraction layout)....... 1stly you joined the queue to view/purchase the virtual photo... bt true enough none of our photo turned out nice... a glance ard the shop reminds me of another IOS shop hehe....... I guess its my working instinct to notice all these small little operational flaws...

Overall the experience was quite a nice one.....
10/10: the Singapore Flyer itself (applause to the architects, engineers etc)
8/10: experience on the ride (scenery, comfort level, safety)
8.5/10: the staff of Singapore Flyer
3/10: Signages (facts about the Flyer, instructions, queue lines)
6/10: Pricing (though the pricing for tourist is reasonable, bt still i feel its slight on the high end for the locals... hopefully Singapore flyer can come up with some local deals)
2/10: handicapped friendly (i really dunno how can the wheel-chairs be pushed up the capsule?!)

My tarot card reading for my past, present and future!

Irin, you selected the following three cards, in this order, that represent your past, present and future:

My present: The Emperor

The Emperor represents the primary influence on the current state of your life. Right now, in your present, you may be faced with a great challenge that requires you to develop your leadership and problem-solving skills. Getting this card in this position may be a sign that logical thinking and strategizing is what's necessary in your current situation. At the same time, beware of letting your intellect overshadow your emotions. Instead, allow clear feelings to inform your reasoning, and seek the advice of a wise authority figure.

The Emperor is the fifth card to appear in the Major Arcana, and stands for authority and leadership. In this card he sits on his throne, holding the ancient Egyptian ankh in one hand, symbolizing wisdom. In the other hand sits the globe of dominion, suggesting his power. He is wearing a suit of armor and is flanked by rugged mountains, symbolizing strength. The Emperor is the Earth Father, representing logic and clear reasoning, as well as your paternal instincts. This card can be a sign that you may need to seek counsel from someone wise, or that you need to deal with an authority figure in your life.There are a number of ways this card could be playing out right now.

Some possibilities include:

  • You may need to take the lead in your love life and make a strategic decision.
  • Perhaps you need to reassess your finances and seek advice for some long-term planning
  • You may need to take a stronger role in caring for your long-term health and well-being. This could mean finding a new doctor, researching health insurance, or trying a new fitness routine.

My past: Justice

Justice exerted a significant impact on your past. This means that at some point in your past, you may have needed to make an unbiased decision that would have an affect on your life or someone else's. You likely tried your best to weigh the pros and cons of the situation with balance and fairness. Your response to this situation, and the reactions it elicited from others, brought you to the point you're at today.

Justice represents fairness and honor. In the card, she holds a sword in one hand and the balance scales in the other. She sees things clearly, without obstruction. With all the evidence at hand, and armed with open-mindedness and unwavering honesty, Justice allows for fair and balanced decisions. This card signified that the right thing will happen in the end.

This card may have affected the overall tenor of your life, or just a particular area. Following are a few possibilities for how you experienced these influences in your past:

  • You may have been involved in a family dispute that required the intervention of the law or another third party.
  • In your social life, you may have had to decide what you believed was true regarding conflicting stories, or make a moral decision that had the potential to damage your relationships.
  • You may have had to make a tough decision about whether or not to stay in a romantic relationship, given complicated circumstances.

My future: The Tower

Your future, as it currently stands, is represented by the third card you chose. The Tower is the card of facing the unexpected. At some point soon, you may find yourself experiencing a sudden change that you didn't see coming. In some way, your old way of life will end. You may experience this as a welcomed change, or it may feel upsetting. When the situation presents itself, try to face the change, as it's the path to getting on with your life.

The Tower is seventeenth in the Major Arcana, and is the card of the unexpected. A gray tower is on fire, struck by a bolt of lightening. The inhabitants are falling, and the king's crown has been knocked off. The falling raindrops form the Hebrew letter Yud, signifying the hand of God. These images represent the fall from grace. The Tower also symbolizes the element of surprise, and the way that sudden changes can transform your perceptions and your life. This surprise, whether it's pleasing or upsetting, serves as a reminder that you can't plan or prepare for everything in life.

More than any other step of life's journey, this card represents the lessons you must learn and the experiences in store for you in your upcoming karmic destiny. This may impact you in any number of ways, including:

  • A sudden change in your love life, such as a breakup or a surprising change in the understandings of your existing relationship.
  • An adjustment in your work life that dramatically changes your daily experience of the job, whether it's a new owner of the company, a new boss or co-worker, or a new set of responsibilities.
  • A sudden shift in your family life, such as a drastic change in the closeness of your relationship to someone particular or to all of your relatives.

YES, read this and stay positive!!!!!!

Gotten this from a colleague... think its very encouraging....
Got to share these words of wisdom.... I LEARNT!!!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
You never know until you try;
You never try unless you really try.

You give it your best shot; you do the best you can.
And if you have done everything in your power, and still fail-
the truth of the matter is that you haven't failed at all.

When you reach for your dreams,
no matter what they may be,
no matter how difficult they may be,

You LEARN from the TRYING;
You GROW from the REACHING;
You WIN from the DOING.
